Where are my "Manners"?

Like seriously? Each blog post I make, I always emphasize how I need to blog more and look at this first blog 3 months? It'll be a short one at that too. Just felt like posting about the annouce of DJ Hero. http://www.djshadow.com/news/article/134
Not really sure how I feel about this. Hope it doesn't make everybody want to become djs all of a sudden like Rock Band/Guitar Hero did for everybody wanting to be in a rock band (which resulting in lots of new metal bands since screaming takes far less talent then actual singing). Always had hopes and dreams of becoming a dj on the side to be somewhat 'different' than everyone else, but this could be the downfall of that as well...or I could just be overreacting. We'll just have to play the waiting game and find out.

On another note related to the blog title, if you haven't gotten a chance to check out Passion Pit's first full length album "Manners" get at it. Great stuff.

Since school ends next week, maybe I'll actually be able to get serious about this whole blogging thing.

Fiction Vs. Reality

Alright well it's been an interesting week. Ever since I broke my foot going nuts to Sandstorm at an all-night-dance, I've been to uncomfortable to do too much of anything. However, there have been 4 INCREDIBLE music videos released recently that have seemed sooo crazy, I've been inspired to write a post about them.

First off "Evident Utensil" by Chairlift.

When I first started watching this, I was kinda liked hmm thats cool I guess...? As I continued to watch though it grew on me more and more. So it may take you more than one watch to fully appreciate it. Really messes with your mind, but in a beautiful pixalated way. If you enjoy it you may also want to check out Kanye's new video which was made in the same type of way.
Welcome to Heartbreak by Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi Music Video

And believe it or not that leads me into my next one perfectly. Music video for "Day N Night" by Kid Cudi.

I remember when I first heard Kid Cudi's stuff a while back, and I really enjoyed what he was putting out there. Now he's added to my appreciation towards him with this fantastic video for Day N Night where his minds is wandering every which way while he's going about time. Anything involving real life video mixed with cartoon/animations just always seems to blow my mind and I fall in love.

Speaking of animation, saw Coraline the other day and if you have a chance to check it on the big screen, don't pass it up. You'll regret it.

Up Next "When I Grow Up" by Fever Ray

If I'm not mistaken I've actually already blogged about their "If I had A Heart" music video not too long ago. From the looks of it, this music video was filmed around the same location(?). I'm not sure what it is, but something about Fever Ray's music and videos is just very deep and emotional too me.

Last, but not least "Cable TV" by Fol Chen

I remember when I was first told about Fol Chen. Back then they were pretty much nobodies. Being able to watch them progress to where they've come today and where they seem to be going is just mind blowing. This video isn't anything short of that either in my mind. Stop motion dancing has never looked so beautiful.

Day N Night(Crookers Remix) by Kid Cudi (from Fuck Bad Music) not the video in the music video I posted but pretty similiar

An Addiction or Obsession? Call It What You Please.

Alright well I think I've developed an addiction. An addiction to downloading music and just listening to music. Now this has been something I've done for almost my whole life, but I never took realization until now about how much I actually do do it. If I remember correctly something is classified as an addiction is if its something you need (which yes, I need music) and if it takes precidence over things. The second reason being the one that brought me to this idea. It's not I don't get around to doing anything because I'm lazy. Instead it's actually due to the fact because I spend ALL my time listening/finding/downloading/etc. music. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about this. I love what I do even if I get discouraged with what I run out of time to do. Now that I've been able to bring this into my own perspective, hopefully I will be able to find a way to complete my needed tasks while at the same time enjoying the thrill I get out of music. Maybe I'll even be able to get my own dreams of music production better underway as well.

Now having said all that, here's one song that has been a driving factor to my addiction. Just can't get enough of it.

In For The Kill (Skream's Let's Get Ravey Mix) by La Roux (link off of Ohh! Crapp...)

While I'm actually posting. Here's a video that has intrigued me:

Reminds me of myself for some reason I have yet to discover.

Wonder if anybody reads this yet...

INCREDIBAD

Alright, well sadly I think I set my sights to high for a joke album like this. As a whole, I wasn't too impressed with it besides the songs released and 1 or 2 more on the album. Due to this, I don't feel like writing too much, so all I'll say is I was disapointed. I'll give it a 6.5/10 because some of it did make me chuckle. Not too much for my first blogged album review ><.

However here were my favorites:

I'm on a Boat
Jizz In My Pants
Boombox*
Space Olympics*
Incredibad*

*I'll post up links once I've found them

saMh pUs!

That's right! It's time for a post dedicated to Mash-Ups! What's that? What's a mash-up? Why don't I let ole Sue Teller tell you?

Planned on writing about a few of my favorite modern mash-up artists, but kind of forgot about it so I'll just name a few. Check out these guys if you haven't already; Girl Talk, Easter Egg, E-603, Super Mash Bros., The Hood Internet, Dr.Robotnik, and those are just to name a few. If I come across anything super killer I'll let you all in.

Planning on posting about The Lonely Island Tomorrow in honor of their album release so be on the lookout.

So yeah...I'm Lazy

Alright, so this whole posting my favorite videos from 2009 isn't working out as well as I was planned. So I'm just post two more from 2009 and then a few older ones just to close it all out the same way i started. That way I can attempt to blog about other topics in the future.

The first time I saw this music video by Fever Ray I wasn't really too sure what I thought of it, but once I saw it more and more it began to wear on me and now I find it to be a very interesting video.

I've always been a fan of stop motion productions. And this is one of the best I've seen in the form of a music video.

Now for some gems from 2008:

Ok, when I first heard this song it blew my mind. When I first saw this video it blew my mind, and THEN once I read more into the production of the video, my mind was blown yet a third time. Just an all around masterpiece.

Not much for me to say for this one, just watch for yourself. The vibe the song and video send to me is just superior.

Alright, well first off, this is not the official video for this song. It is a fan made one, and a splendid one at that.

To close it off, here's another great one by Rex the Dog.

Probably should've written more for each, but whatever. I feel most of them speak for themselves.

OMG QUICK BLAST FROM 2005! RUNAWAY!

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Oh boy, I missed a few days.

You'd think having the past two days off of school due to weather conditions that I would've found time to post on here, but I didn't. Sorry to anybody who might be reading (which I'm guessing is nobody =P)

Anyways still a music video or two I have in mind of posting before I attempt to move onto more interesting things.

I know this may not be the most interesting video in the world, but I really dig it. The whole skeleton visual they give is great to me.

We Are The People

Empire of the Sun is one of those bands who just seems to give you an ear-gasm everytime you listen to them. One of those bands that will brighten the dullest of moods. Add in their snazzy looks and a beautiful environment, and well you've got a fabulous music video.

Imagine A World Of Technicolor

This post is gonna have to be brief due to the fact I'm heading out for the night relitively soon, but this video by Coldplay was another that blew my mind:

My Girls Are Bubblicious

As I stated in my last post, the next few posts will involve some of the great videos I have seen being release recently.

I figure there's no better way to start things off than with Animal Collective's video for My Girls:
http://www.myanimalhome.net/

And since that's not embeded I'll embed one just for the heck of it.

I've always seemed to enjoy both the music and music videos of Rex the Dog, but this one takes the cake for me. The ammount of time put into it and the outstanding final result just blow my mind.

I need to work on spicing these up, beginning to bore myself just writing them.

Beasts, Obamas, and Videos. Oh My!

To start, I know I'm a day late, but the inauguration of Barack Obama was just THAT BIG of an event that I figured one day wouldn't hurt anything.

Alright, now that I've got that done with I'll say, I'm still clueless in the whole aspect of blogging, but I plan on posting some of the sensational music videos that've already been released in what looks to be a very promising, music-wise, 2009.

To start, I'm going to post a video that's actually from last year, but it's so fantastic that I felt it would be a good way to kick off the newcomers.

Here's the mp3 for the song as well:

=O I've made a blog!

Hmm...well I'll start of by kind've introducing myself and what I plan on using this blog for.

About myself, well I'm still in high school, but I'm incredibly bored with it so I overcome my boredom with music. Listening and attempting to create. I hope to share some of the great music I find with other people through this blog as long with other videos, pictures, etc. whatever I find fitting.

I figure I'll start out with a video and a song.

Not saying watch the whole thing, just the talk the guy gives to the taxi driver that starts around 0:01:35. And after you hear it all just think about it a little and apply it to situations in your life. It leads to some deep trains of thought for myself, I know that.

Now a song:

Dance the Way I Feel - Ou Est Le Swimming Pool
http://www.yousendit.com/download/WnBUMWZPUzdPSHhMWEE9PQ
(link from Off the Radar, I feel there's not point in me uploading things myself until I know people actually read this lawl)
This songs really reminds me of myself because; 1: I'm a terrible dancer, 2: When I'm bored I sometimes just turn my basement into a mini dance club and party with myself..., and 3: Gives me the message of to be independent and don't allow the things around you to influence your decisions.
